The Nicholls State University College of Arts and Sciences held a reading in honor of the 70th anniversary of the university entitled: A New Chapter for Nicholls.

The reading was held on March 25, in the Bollinger Sisters Suites.

“We’re here tonight to remember where we came from and to commemorate a new chapter in the literary history of our university,” John Doucet, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, said.

The event was put together by Katherine Conner, associate professor of English, and Doucet.

At the event, faculty and alumni read a few of their works. Some of the works read were also published into a book for the event.

Those reading were: Conner, Albert Davis, Doucet, Ali Cortez, April Prejic, Melissa Remark and Jessi Suire.

Conner introduced each reader before their reading, and the reader then introduced the piece they would be reading aloud.

Connor read the prologue of the novel she’s working, and Cortez read sections of two of her nonfiction pieces about her godfather, one of which is published.
