Men’s baseball picks up sixth consecutive win:

The baseball team tied with a program record of 25 runs with their home win against Alcorn State University on Feb. 19.

On Feb. 22, the Colonels picked up a win against Grambling, winning 6-1. On Feb. 24, the team made it six consecutive wins after winning two games against Grambling, 16-5 and 7-2, respectively.

On Feb. 26, the Colonels play against Tulane at home.

Men’s basketball achieves new personal record:

On Feb. 16, the men’s basketball team lost against Sam Houston State 84-74 in overtime.

On Feb 23, the Colonels managed to break a previous 3-point record after scoring 22 overall 3-pointers in their win against Central Arkansas 100-57.

The men play against McNeese on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.

Women’s basketball team achieves third consecutive win:

The Colonels managed to come out on top when they played Sam Houston State, winning 84-81. Redshirt freshman Lauryn Bowie and senior Cassidy Barrios both got double-doubles, which is an accumulation of points, rebounds, assist, steals and blocked shots overall.

On Feb. 23, the team won their third consecutive match against Central Arkansas 68-52.

The Colonels will face off against the Cowgirls at McNeese State University on Feb. 27.

Men’s Golf places seventh out of 12 in LaTour Intercollegiate:

Freshman Ben Baker and sophomore Connor Campbell led the Colonels at the LaTour Intercollegiate, placing seventh out of 12 overall.

The team placed 13th out of 14 on Feb. 23 and 15th out of 15 on Feb. 24 at the Seminole Intercollegiate.

The Colonels’ next stop is Lake Charles on March 18 and 19 for the Lake Charles Invitational.

Softball competes in Mardi Gras Classic:

On Feb. 22, the Colonels won their first game against Hofstra 11-1 for the Mardi Gras Classic.

The following day, the team was defeated by Hofstra 2-8 and Illinois 2-8.

On Feb. 24, the Colonels lost their second game against Illinois 3-5 and their game against South Alabama 2-3.

The Colonels are back in action on Feb. 28 with two games against Alcorn State.

Megan Landry was named Southland Pitcher of the Week. Last season, she managed to receive 3 weekly honors.

Men’s and women’s cross country earns USTFCCCA:

On Feb. 21, the men’s and women’s cross-country team earned the U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) team academic awards by having above a 3.0 GPA. Women concluded 2018 with a 3.07 GPA and the men with a 3.12 GPA.

Both teams will be back in action for the Southland Indoor Championship in Birmingham, Ala. This will be the final indoor season event before the outdoor season begins March 15.

Men’s and women’s tennis rescheduled against Loyola due to rain:

Both tennis teams were rained out Feb. 20, where they were supposed to play against Loyola. The match was rescheduled to March 19.

Women’s Tennis will play the University of Troy on Feb. 25, and the men will play Xavier on Feb. 27.
