On Feb. 18, the Student Government Association (SGA) discussed the Chick-fil-A opening and upcoming outreach programs.
“I just wanted to make clarification that Chick-fil-A on campus will accept munch money and will be officially opening on Feb 28,” SGA president Austin Wendt said.
A few of the SGA officers took a tour of the building and said it can hold about 50 people inside. They said they are thinking about adding more seating outside to provide more areas for people to sit.
Another topic discussed at this week’s meeting was the first SGA sock hop at the Claiborne. This event will be an outreach program for the community. They will be attending another outreach program for a shelter with children between the ages of ten and 14 later in the semester. Depending on the theme, SGA might get some people from the athletic department to attend the event.
With the outreach programs, the SGA senate passed a few motions such as the parking lot signs discussed at last week’s meeting and the motion to fund $800 to the nursing program for their annual convention.
SGA will also be delivering stickers throughout downtown Thibodaux to represent the Colonels.
“A while back we purchased these stickers to go on doors. One side of the sticker will say pull for the Colonels and the other side will say push for the Colonels,” said Emily Ledet, director of public relations.
The senate discussed the possibility of having a student section at the home football games and the senate Wendt attending a few meetings for the student union renovations.
Wendt attended a conference in Lafayette to discuss students experience in the UL school systems last Thursday.
