Men’s basketball looks to stay undefeated at home
After completing a three-game road stretch by falling 75-73 to Southland Conference competitor Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi on Jan. 23, the men’s basketball team (10-10, 3-4 SLC) returns to Stopher Gym on Wednesday against Lamar (9-11, 2-5 SLC) with a chance to improve to 7-0 at home. Tip-off against the Cardinals is set for 7 p.m.
On Saturday, the Colonels travel to Hammond to face Southeastern (8-12, 4-3 SLC) at 4 p.m. With a victory, the team would snap a streak of four consecutive road losses to the Lions.
Women’s basketball shoots for 7-2 conference record
The women’s basketball team (11-8, 5-2 SLC) heads to Beaumont, Texas, on Wednesday, following a 85-55 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, to face SLC leader Lamar (14-4, 7-0 SLC) at 7 p.m.
The team will remain on the road with a trip to Hammond to face Southeastern (8-10, 3-4 SLC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Colonels could to add to a two-game win streak and improve their conference record to 7-2 with victories over both SLC teams.
Men’s track team competes in first meet since reinstatement
After being reinstated and holding tryouts in November, the men’s track team will compete in its first meet of the indoor season on Friday. The team is set to travel to Baton Rouge for the LSU Bayou Bengal.
Women’s track team to compete at LSU
The women’s track team is also set to compete in the LSU Bayou Bengal on Friday after participating in the Samford Invite in Birmingham, Ala., on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19.
Men’s tennis team to play first home match of spring
After falling 4-0 to South Florida and 4-0 to UL-Lafayette at LSU’s Jerry Simmons Invitational in Baton Rouge on Saturday, the men’s tennis team will face the University of Texas at San Antonio at the Colonel Tennis Complex on Friday at 2 p.m.
This will mark the team’s first home match of its spring schedule.
Golf team to host La Tour Collegiate Challenge
The golf team will begin its spring schedule on Saturday by hosting the La Tour Collegiate Challenge at the La Tour Golf Club in Mathews.
Also set to compete in the tournament are Southeastern, New Orleans and Southern Mississippi.
Alumni baseball game set for Saturday
Ahead of its season opener against Southern Illinois in mid-February, the baseball team will host an alumni game at Ray E. Didier Field on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Batting practice and a home run derby will precede the game at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively. The game is free for the public.
