Sneaker Feature: Fall/Winter 18’s upcoming releases

October 26, 2018

Once again, the sneaker scene is bringing several highly anticipated releases to us in the near future. For sneaker enthusiasts, these releases are often very bittersweet. On one hand, these pieces of art are being brought into the world for all to appreciate, but on the other hand, the chances of actually obtaining one for retail is actually very slim due to high demand. This next month, in particular, holds some of the most outstanding sneakers in a while.

Last week on Oct. 17th, the Off-White Nike Air Max 97 was released in two contrasting colorways. The Air Max 97, being one of the most influential and legendary sneakers of all time, received yet another noteworthy colorway to its name with Virgil Abloh’s rendition of the shoe. Don’t worry if you took the L on this one or simply didn’t hear about its release because images of an Off-White Nike Air Force 1 have recently surfaced. Unconventionally equipped with a textile upper, the Air Force 1 is sporting a primarily lime green colorway called “Volt.” Although the colorway has not yet been confirmed by Nike or Off-White, this sneaker is certainly one to mention.

On Oct. 27, the newest addition to the Adidas Yeezy 700 collection will be released with the “Mauve” colorway. The Wave Runner “Solid Grey”, the original Yeezy 700, is one of the most notable sneakers of 2018, so another colorway of Kanye’s clunky dad-shoe design makes for a pretty hyped release. With Kanye’s newest album Yandhi on the way, this shoe is surely one of the more popular ones in this time of the year. However, Kanye isn’t the only rapper making moves in the sneaker world.

Charting rappers like Travis Scott and Tyler the Creator also have their hands in the shoe game. The rappers continue to stir up the kicks scene with Tyler’s Converse collabs and Travis’s Jordan collabs. Tyler The Creator’s newest Converse collection includes an innovative two Chuck Taylor 70s and a One Star. Set to release on Nov. 15, the three-shoe collection incorporates a fall-styled theme into the timeless converse pieces. On Travis’ end of the sneaker scene, the Houston rapper’s video-tease of a Cactus Jack Jordan 1 made its way around social media. The shoe appeared in what looks like a fall/winter themed colorway, so it should be receiving a proper identity pretty soon. Although it’s unclear if the shoe will merely be another friends and family exclusive along the purple Cactus Jack 4s, a Travis Scott Jordan 1 is definitely a shoe to keep on your watch list.

With all of these exciting leaks and releases on the way, sneakerheads have nothing to complain about. The sneaker world is still prospering, and it should be interesting to see what else this fall/winter season has in store for us. Thanks for keeping up and keeping your heat in check.
