Although we are technically heading into the second fall break of the semester, the orange-leaved, pumpkin patch filled, cooler weathered break is finally here. This fall break is sure to be twice as fall-ish, given the true return of the autumn season. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m grateful for the first break, just like any other time off, but these upcoming days off will certainly be something extra special to lovers of the autumn season. If you were unhappy with the way your last fall break turned out, you’ve been granted a second opportunity to have an enjoyable time away from the stress of class. Though it may be but a brief pause in schoolwork, there are plenty of things you can do to make it an unforgettable experience. To ensure the success of your fall break, read this fun and festive list of tips and ideas.

Halloween Costume Shopping

‘Tis the season (of spookiness). Halloween is in two-ish weeks, and you really don’t have your costume yet? Well, you’re not alone. Whether you need the time to scour the internet for that banger of a costume or you need the time to thrift through the party store, fall break is a great time to plan out your costumes, which are unbelievably non-refundable after Oct. 31. Ridiculous, right?

Road Trip

Potentially the most underrated use of a few days off is a road trip with the boys/girls. Five days is all you really need for a good road trip; it’s not too long and not too short. Also, it’s never too late to plan a road trip because you can just go anytime and come back any time. The essence of college is definitely manifesting in the unpreparedness and decently high possibility of a random fall break road trip.

Wardrobe sorting

Sweater weather is quickly approaching, and you should probably start getting ready for it if you haven’t already. It’s finally time to take all the fall/winter clothes from the top shelf of your closet down. Those expensive outfits you bought to flex for the three cold months of the year are coming in handy once again. Cold front season is here, and I personally couldn’t be happier.

Take the time off to treat yourself to some extra sleep and whatever your heart desires. The fall season is a special one, so it only makes sense that we’re given a break from classes to celebrate this miraculous time of the year. The season of fall really provides a start to the most joyous time of the year. I could go on and on about the greatness of fall, but, oh well. Happy fall everybody; I hope your break is everything you want it to be.
