Introducing the new Nicholls Worth section: Entertainment
August 20, 2018
Over the past year, many changes have taken place at the Nicholls Worth. Noteworthy ones include the transition from a newspaper to the sleek Nicholls Worth magazine, as well as plans for media convergence that passed with the student media referendum during the spring semester.
The magazine was a groundbreaking feat for us at the Nicholls Worth. It gave us more creative freedom and allowed us to take the strides that have us in the exciting position we are in today as a group. Media convergence, which will allow for the unification of all student media outlets here at Nicholls, set the foundation for something new and exciting: the entertainment section.
Our goal as a section is to keep students here at Nicholls up to date and informed about pop culture happenings that occur on campus and around the world. While our content will be diverse, the majority of our work will focus on music, film and fashion.
We hope to cover local musicians around the bayou region to help them gain more exposure and fandom. We hope to cover festivals such as Buku to give students who have never attended an idea of what it is like and how to prepare for it if they wish to go. We will review albums and movies honestly and thoroughly because we know how precious money is to college students. We will also dabble in pieces covering local sports teams, such as the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans. Thanks to media convergence, we plan to begin podcasts discussing whatever interesting topic comes to mind.
Overall, the entertainment section hopes to provide Nicholls students and the community with interesting and thought-provoking articles, rankings and columns. We will work hard to ensure that everyone stays updated on the hottest new albums and movies and that everyone’s kick game is on point.
