Softball’s winning streak ends in Hammond

The Nicholls State University softball team’s 10-game winning streak ended against the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions this past weekend.

GAME RECAPS
In the first game Friday, the Colonels hit three home runs, with two from junior catcher and third baseman Kali Clement.

In the fourth inning, three errors led to six runs for the Lions, and the Colonels lost 6-4.

On Saturday, Nicholls lost the second game of the series 3-2, with the bases loaded in the seventh inning, but won the third game 2-0 to avoid a sweep.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Colonels (20-9, 7-2 SLC) are currently in second place in the conference, behind the Northwestern State University Demons (20-9, 8-1 SLC).

They will return home to face the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (14-20, 4-5 C-USA) Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The Golden Eagles completed a three-game sweep against the University of Texas at El Paso Miners (11-21, 1-8 C-USA) at home this past weekend, and face the LSU Tigers (26-5, 3-2 SEC) Tuesday.

Then the Colonels will host the University of Central Arkansas Bears (16-13, 7-2 SLC) this weekend at home for a three-game series.

The games are scheduled to take place Friday at 4 and 6 p.m. and Saturday at noon.
