Men’s golf faced stiff competition in Seminole Invitational

The Nicholls State University men’s golf team wrapped up another tournament last weekend. The Colonels placed 12th overall out of 14 teams in the Seminole Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Florida State University.
While the Colonels had a rough outing as a team, senior golfer Albert Badosa-Soler impressed with yet another top-five finish, his second in the month of February.
TOURNAMENT RECAP
Faced against stiff competition from Division I colleges like Florida State University and West Virginia University, the Colonels did their best to hold their own after the first day of play.
After day one, the Colonels found themselves placed 10th overall. The Colonels followed up a round one score of 295 with a round two score of 299.
The Colonels ended the day with a 594, 18-over the par set at 576 for day one. Badosa-Soler led the team and set a new career-low of 68 in the first round of play.
Badosa-Soler ended day one with a score of 138, which tied him for second overall. Freshman Connor Campbell also put up a respectable round one score of 71, one under par set at 72.
Day two didn’t go as well for the Colonels as they posted a round three score of 309 and finished 12th overall with an overall score of 903, 39 over par.
Badosa-Soler again had an impressive showing, posting a round three score of 73 to finish with a total score of 211, good for second overall. Host Florida State won the tournament with an overall score of 844.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Colonels will next travel to Athens, Georgia, on March 12 to participate in the Southern Intercollegiate tournament hosted by the University of Georgia.
The tournament will be held at the Athens Country Club. Par will be set at 72.
