On October 23, the Southland Conference partnered with Teamworks, the leader of mobile
collaboration and communication software among athletic organizations.
Teamworks was founded in 2004 and is based out of Durham, NC. The company has helped a multitude
of athletic organizations across the country improve the way they communicate and share information.
Through the use of collaborative tools that allow coaches, athletes and athletic administrators to share
schedules, documents, videos and more valuable time will be saved and teams will be able to stay more
connected through the use of their mobile devices.
By partnering with Teamworks, the Southland Conference will join other powerhouse athletic
organizations such as the Men’s and Women’s NCAA Basketball Championships, Adidas Football, the
Mountain West Conference and the Big10 who all currently use Teamworks communication software.
In a previous interview about the new program, Southland Conference Commissioner Tom Burnett said,
“After hearing so many success stories from other athletic organizations, the Southland Conference is
excited to partner with Teamworks.”
He also said that with this new program, there will be less distractions and all universities in the
conference as well as their individual teams will be more in sync on and off the field.
Zach Maurides, the founder and CEO of Teamworks said that even though the Southland Conference is
split up among Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas, this software program has the capability to make the
conference more seamless than ever.
“Teamworks will enable each pillar of the Southland Conference to collaborate more seamlessly than
ever, despite universities being in different states,” Maurides said. “With everyone on the same page,
the Southland Conference will be able to run a much more efficient operation and student-athletes,
coaches, athletic trainers, academic advisors, tutors, nutritionists, administrators and more will be able
to allot more time to their specific roles.”
According to the press release, Teamworks works with over 1,375 NCAA Division I teams in collegiate
athletics, including 36 Power Five schools that have adopted Teamworks department wide. When it
comes to professional athletics, Teamworks works with the United Soccer League, Major League
Lacrosse, the National Hockey League, the National Football League, the National Basketball Association
and four Major League Baseball teams.
As far as Teamworks’s relationship to Nicholls specifically, coaches and athletes will not only be able to
all use the same software from team to team, but now Nicholls will be better connected to the entire
conference since all 13 teams in the Southland will be utilizing the features of Teamworks.
