Six semifinalists chosen by presidential search committee

The semifinalists were chosen by the University of Louisiana System. The six semifinalists are: Jay Clune,
Eugene Dial, John Doucet, Marcheta Evans, Shawn Mauldin and Wade Rousse. Each candidate has a
tremendous amount of credentials that make them excellent candidates for the position.

University of Louisiana System President and CEO Jim Henderson stated that "It was a tremendous
challenge to narrow a field of 15 talented candidates to six, but I am confident the Committee chose the
right group to move forward in the process”.

Jay Clune is currently the Interim dean of Graduate School at the University of West Florida where he
has been working for the last 13 years. Clune received a PhD in history from Louisiana State University, a
M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Alabama and a B.S. in Marketing from Nicholls
State University.

Vice President for Student Affairs and Associate Professor of Education, Eugene Dial, has been working
at Nicholls State University since 1986. Dial has received many degrees including a B.S. and Master of
Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education
from Florida State University.

Another Nicholls faculty member is also a semifinalist. John Doucet is currently the Dean of the College
of Arts and Sciences and Director of the Honors Program. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from Nicholls
State University and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Louisiana State University Medical Center. He has
worked at Nicholls State University for over 20 years.

Marcheta Evans has been working at Our Lady of the Lake since 2013. He is currently the Provost and
Vice President for Academic Affairs at Our Lady of the Lake. Evans holds degrees in many subject areas.
He has a B.S. in Psychology and History from the University of Alabama. He also received a M.A. in
Rehabilitation Counseling and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of
Alabama. Evans also holds a M.A. degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama-
Birmingham.

Past employee and Nicholls State University alumni Shawn Mauldin is also a semifinalist. Mauldin
graduated from Nicholls with a Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration. He also received a
Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Mississippi. He worked at Nicholls between the years 1987-
2015. He has been working at Mississippi State University as Director and Professor of Accounting since
2015.

Wade Rousse is currently the Executive in Residence at Northern Arizona University. He holds a B.S. in
Business and a Master of Business Administration from Nicholls State University. He also holds a
Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Rousse has been working at
Northern Arizona University since the year 2015.

Henderson stated “At the end of this process, Nicholls State will have a strong leader who will work with
faculty, staff, and stakeholders to meet the needs of the bayou region."
