Tommy Thibodeaux is a senior marketing and professional sales major from Thibodaux.
Tommy Thibodeaux is a very dedicated and important member of Nicholls’ community.
He is involved throughout campus, serving as president of Student Government Association,
president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Treasurer of the Student Alumni Association and a general
member of many other organizations at Nicholls such as Circle K and Pre Law Society. He says
that his main three are SGA, Kappa Sigma and Student Alumni Association, as those are the
three organizations in which he holds executive positions.
Of course, Tommy Thibodeaux is best-known as Nicholls’ SGA president, with this role
comes many responsibilities. He says he deals mostly with the external aspects of SGA.
“It’s really connecting the students with the administration and the administration with
the students.”
Thibodeaux also deals with state proceedings such as TOPS and the current presidential
search.
Obviously, it can’t be easy to be so involved on campus, juggling multiple organizations
and responsibilities on top of working a full time job and maintaining a good GPA. As
Thibodeaux said, “It can be hard, but it’s just about loving what you do. That’s what makes
some of the long nights a little easier.”
Another thing Thibodeaux believes is that Nicholls is like a big family. That’s the reason
behind why he does what he does. Nicholls is not just a school, but a community.
“I can walk down to my class and I know 30 people. I know my professors. We can walk
past each other and say hello, and they know my name. I know I’m not just a number here.”
