Nicholls 2014 FACS graduate Mary Myers won a 2017 Honda Fit on the game show, “Let’s Make
a Deal,” on April 14, 2017 in Los Angeles, Ca.
Myers said, “I was in utter shock. The craziest thing is, I had been praying for a new car,
because my current one is on its last leg.”
While the gameshow was free to attend, Myers said she was required to pay taxes on the
new car. She added, “It’s America. Nothing in life is free sadly.”
The Covington native was chosen from the audience by the show’s host, Wayne Brady, to
play “Zero to Eighty,” a game Myers said was based on luck. She explained that she had a one-
sixth chance of pulling the 40 ball, the token that would win her the game.
Myers said she came across a Facebook post seeking energetic individuals to attend the
gameshow. Knowing that her mother is a fan of the show and would be visiting during the time
of the event, she replied to the status.

subsequently emailed her tickets to the show.
According to its website, “Let’s Make a Deal” is a gameshow where the host chooses
enthusiastic contestants from the crowd to play one of several games for a chance to win a
prize. The gameshow encourages its participants to wear costumes.
The mother-daughter duo had about four days to prepare their outfits, which Myers said
were inspired by their Southern Louisiana roots.
“Of course, we chose to go as Mardi Gras girls to represent the South!”
Following the event, Myers, a former nanny in Beverly Hills, Ca., was offered a position as
a recruiter for “Let’s Make a Deal.” She accepted the offer and moved to Los Angeles to begin
working for the gameshow a few weeks afterwards.
Myers said she mentioned her search for a job to audience members and the right person
must have heard.
She said, “This job has opened a lot of doors for me and has let me meet some amazing
