Threat of storm alters Homecoming plans
October 5, 2017
The current threat of Tropical Storm Nate has led to the postponement of several
homecoming events.
The homecoming court presentation will take place during the football game against
Abilene Christian University on Oct. 14 at 3:00 p.m.
Kickoff for the Northwestern game has been moved to 11:00 a.m. this Saturday.
Tailgating will take place on concrete and blacktop areas only, with no tables, tents,
or chairs allowed. The university has postponed Colonel Day to Nov. 18.
Friday’s pirogue races will continue as scheduled.
Additionally, Nicholls has entered phase one of its hurricane preparedness plan. All
signs and displays around campus will come down tomorrow.
In phase one, the Office of Academic Affairs will ask all deans and department heads
to gather information about special events and academic activities that could be
impacted by the storm and make plans to deal with such problems accordingly.
Faculty must make sure that learning sites are prepared for off-campus learning in
the event that the university closes.
Students should check the Nicholls website for additional alerts and directions, as
well as check their email and sites like Moodle for instructions from professors.
An emergency committee is meeting on Saturday to make a decision about the
university for Monday.
