Nicholls golf travels to play in the David Toms Intercollegiate Tournament
October 4, 2017
After a near two-week hiatus, the Nicholls State golf team will return to action in the
weekend’s David Toms Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Louisiana State University in
Baton Rouge. This is the first time that the Colonels will participate in the tournament, which
was started by LSU in 2009. The tournament is played on University Club, LSU’s home golf
course.
The tournament will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7 th and Sunday, Oct. 8 th , with tee time
set at 8:30 a.m. for each day. The field is made up of 13 teams, with six of them being colleges
from the state of Louisiana. Par is set at 72 for the tournament.
The Colonels will try to improve on last tournament, the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational,
where they finished 11th overall. The team improved from day one to day two and will try to
ride that positive momentum into this week’s tourney at LSU. Freshman Connor Campbell will
also look to build off of last tournament’s 17th place individual finish, a team high for the
Colonels.
After the David Toms Intercollegiate, the Colonels will travel to Kennesaw, Georgia, to
participate in the Pinetree Intercollegiate tournament on Oct. 23rd and 24th. This will be the
Colonels’ last scheduled tournament until January.
