Major and Minors Fair

September 21, 2017

On September 20, 2017 Nicholls State University will hosted its annual Majors and Minors Fair on campus. Each individual college across the university set up a booth with information for students regarding the majors and minors offered by each department.

All the departments and colleges participated, with the booths set up either outside or inside each respective department’s building.

“The Major and Minors Fair is really there to give students the opportunity to talk with various departments,” David Zerangue, director of academic services said. “We often encourage students to obtain a minor and the fair allows students the opportunity to learn about all of the minors offered, as well as the majors in each department.”

The Major and Minors Fair allowed students the chance to talk with the deans, department heads, professors and students currently in that department.

“Students often don’t realize all of the amazing opportunities they have around campus,” Zerangue said. “The fair allows the students a one on one chance to talk with department heads and to ask questions about the various majors and minors programs.”

The fair was opportunity to allow students the chance to learn what is available to them.

“The overall purpose of the fair is for students to go and see what all is out there,” Zerangue said. “Part of what we hope happens is that if a student is unsure about their major, rather than losing the student completely, they may find something else that they would excel in. Students may decide they want to double major or even add a minor. Our hope is that all students find their future and discover a major that meets their needs.”
