Movie Review: “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”

September 22, 2017

Kingsman: The Golden Circle was every bit of awesome as the first movie. All of
the spy action with less of the espionage and more of the fighting was on point as
always. With lots of epic fight scenes and big names on screen, there wasn’t much not
to love about this great spy action film.

This movie features Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum,
Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Edward Holcroft, Mark Strong, and even the one and only
Elton John. All of these great characters come together with their superb acting to make
a great story that continued the plot and connected well with the first Kingsman movie.

There were no shortage of great plot devices that keep you interested in every
second you’re viewing. The script was written very well, and it didn’t reveal too much or
too little of what was going to happen next. The dialogue was thoughtful written and
blended well with visuals, timing with the acting, and as well as the action scenes. The
references to the first movie also gave anyone who saw the first movie good feelings as
well as explanations that connect plot points, leaving no holes in the plot. Even though
some critics may say some solutions were a bit convenient, maybe even simply for plot
development, it can’t be denied that it works well for this movie and definitely doesn’t
take away from it.

As for the villain of the movie (Julianne Moore who plays Poppy), nothing is
lacking on her part. She plays a powerful villain with a twisted way of punishing her
henchmen that mess up. She’s just crazy enough and yet intelligent and grounded
enough to put even those with the strongest wills in a state of worry. All this she does
with a smile and cheery attitude that seems to be completely numb to the rather terrible
things she does to her enemies and even innocent people. Julianne Moore is definitely
a win along with everyone else in this movie.

Visuals of this movie could not have been done better. Fight scenes looking
flawless and fluid. Nothing seemed out of sorts or messy. Seeing Eggsy fight some
baddies, and with style and a suit, definitely pleases any audience. Wardrobe for the
characters was also well done and relevant to the actors/actresses roles. The gadgets
and skills used by the agents are perfectly coordinated and fitting for each situation in
the fight scenes. Visually stunning!

For the soundtrack of this movie, I think of one word: Amazing! This soundtrack
features many great songs. For the trailers, these songs were used: My Way by Frank
Sinatra, My Generation (“Battle Royale” Remix) by The Who & Apashe, and Sharp
Dressed Man by ZZ Top. During the movie, these songs were used: Take Me Home,
Country Roads by Matt Margeson, Let’s Go Crazy by Prince & The Revolution, Don’t
Leave Me This Way by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, and Word Up by The Boss Hoss.

All of these music tracks were picked well and complimented the movie well,
even some of Elton John’s songs were used, including Saturday Night’s Alright.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle was definitely one of my favorite movies. I
especially enjoyed it because I loved the first movie and was really excited to see this
one. (Watch the first movie before the second. It wouldn’t make sense of course, and it
won’t have the same effect watching out of order obviously.) Definitely go and see these
great movies, they are very much worth the ticket price. Plus, you might finally get this
chance to take your crush on that date you’ve been wanting to go on. Go ahead, this
movie will be a great opportunity for it!
