Brady Residence Apartment Complex Construction

When passing by the Brady Residence Apartment Complex, students may have noticed large machinery and construction going on.

According to Paige Breaux, coordinator of facilities in the Office of Housing and Residence Life, the construction is on columns at the apartment complex.

Ten of the worst building columns were selected and are being redone. The columns in building two and five are currently being worked on.

“The interiors of these columns were made of wood, with the humidity of Southern Louisiana the wood is not holding up,” Breaux said. “The woody interior of the columns is now being replaced with steel bars; the rest of the columns will be soon refurbished as well.”

Before, the Brady Column project, over the summer time building eight was painted, the interior and exterior. Also in building eight, the bricks located on the other side were washed.

Renovations at Brady began over the summer with repainting and the renovation of Brady columns in buildings two and five.
