Students are looking forward to Spring Break

Students find relief in knowing Spring Break is only a week away, and for many of them, that means it is time for a vacation.
Spring Break is a time where students from different schools get together with friends that they have not seen in months or maybe even years because they attend different schools. It’s also a time that students can spend with their families.

“I plan on going to San Antonio, going on the river walk and seeing the Alamo,” said Chante Singleton, senior psychology major from Patterson, La. “I also want to go to the mall, see the military base and I would like to take a road trip to Corpus Christi.”

Panama City is one of the most popular places where students travel to for Spring Break. There, they occupy themselves by laying by the pool side, visiting beaches, engaging in jet skiing, swimming with dolphins or maybe having a get together to catch up with old friends.

“I want to go to Panama for Spring Break. We really have the greatest time out there,” said Stephan Redmond, sophomore athletic training major from Marrero, Louisiana.

While some students are having the time of their lives, there are other students who simply want to relax their minds while they are away from schoolwork. Being a college student can sometimes be overwhelming, and the amount of schoolwork that is acquired by some professors can have its toll on students. Some may not have the opportunity to simmer down because they are always occupied with their academics, or maybe they are occupied with outside jobs or organizations. Having many courses can mean students are not getting the proper rest one needs in order to function efficiently. This is the time to catch up on sleep and once again simply relax.

“I just want to catch up on some sleep and catch up with all my work that I have,” said William Ellender, junior public relations major from Houma, La.

Nowadays, many college students have full time or part time jobs outside of school. Such a thing can become stressful when trying to keep up with weekly assignments and having an adequate amount of time to study. When Spring Break rolls around, students who are affected by this use the break to their advantage. They set time aside to study information they did not have time to before. All of their chapter readings or math assignments can be completed. Being a student can sometimes become a barrier financially. Students have to work in order to support themselves and pay for school expenses. Some students use Spring Break to work more hours at their job.

Spring Break can be beneficial to many students in different ways.
