Early semester jams for your walk to class

September 13, 2016

While strolling to class, I love listening to feel good music. Any music that sounds good to where you start doing the little tapping-on-rhythm thing with your feet without you even realizing music.

So far in 2016, there has been some great music that has been released. Being a 90’s baby, I keep up with new hip-hop, R&B, Pop and any genre that sounds like a fresh new wave of music. Here are some albums that have been released since the fall semester has started back up and have kept my earphones buzzing while walking to class.

As a Kanye prodigy, there are a lot of expectations that come with that. For Travis Scott though, the pressure may have pushed him into making a very, very good piece of work. Only 14 tracks, the Houston rapper left little room for error on his sophomore album. Following up behind his debut Rodeo, Scott is still shaping his ideas and sound in hip-hop, and BITTSM show’s the artist’s distinctive creativity.

Blonde by Frank Ocean Released Aug. 20

Born in New Orleans, Frank Ocean is equally creativity, impressionism, and mysterious as the city NOLA. After a much-anticipated wait following his Grammy-winning debut album Channel Orange, the pop artist finally gave his restless fans another timeless masterpiece. Ocean taps into both Pop and R&B, giving the album an emotional rollercoaster feel. Hopefully we won’t have to wait another 4 years for the third masterpiece.

Suicide Squad: The Album Released Aug. 5

I cannot remember a movie soundtrack that I have liked since I was kid. This isn’t an ordinary soundtrack; in fact this soundtrack has more star power than most of the albums that have been put out so far in 2016. Music stars like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Eminem, Kehlani, Wiz Khalifa, twenty one pilots, and Kevin Gates grace the movie’s soundtrack, making it hard not to give the album a listen.

The Sun’s Tirade by Isaiah Rashad Released Sept. 2

If you are familiar with TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) Records and rappers such as Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q, then you should have no problem adapting to the sounds on The Sun’s Tirade. The youthful contemporary hip-hop is a nice blend of 90s rap style with soulful music, creating a different wave of sounds.

Comment the albums and tracks that get you going while walking around campus!
