Save money by buying books online

Dear Editor,I felt compelled to write in reference to the article written by Justin Martin on March 9, 2006 (‘Students buy cheaper books online’). For the duration of my last few semesters, I have only been using the school bookstore as a last resort for purchases. I’ve advised all of my friends to follow my example and to use the Internet for book purchases.

The biggest concern voiced by my friends are echoed in Martin’s article: the time of delivery issues.

In my experience I have found the books are in the student bookstore well in advance of the semester by at least two weeks. All a student really has to do is go to the bookstore with his or her schedule and write down the ISBN and UPC numbers, along with the edition and title of each book.

Most Web sites allow for you to search by the numbers. The edition in the bookstore is the edition used in class because the professor is the one who tells the bookstore what book is going to be used for the course. If a book is not going to be used, the professor is not going to have them order it.

In essence, go early and save. You won’t have to worry about time constraints if you order well in advance.
